YMCA of Greater Boston

Upon the 100 year anniversary of the landmark Greater Boston YMCA structure on Huntington Ave., the Y commenced the complicated process of rejuvenating their facility to accommodate a modern operation. A segment of the building was demolished to make way for construction of a new Aquatics Center, locker rooms, gymnasium, and offices. The historic building is being renovated to bring it into code compliance, provide full access and better orientation for all members, restore historic elements such as the central skylight, and replace mechanical, electrical and fire protection systems. The 66,000 s.f. of new and renovated space allows a greater breadth of programming opportunities as well as safer, more healthy and enjoyable spaces for community activity.
