Massachusetts General Hospital Legacy Operating Room

After the opening of the Lunder Building in 2011 MGH retained Linea 5, inc. in 2012 to prepare a master plan to revamp the entire suite of 41 existing active operating rooms, known as the Legacy ORs.  Over the next year, Linea 5 developed an 8 phase, 10 year plan that completely reconfigured this suite which encompasses 4 different connecting buildings. Linea 5 completed full documentation for phases 1-3 of the master plan, construction began in June 2016.  

This project includes two new Perioperative PACU suites, one of 18 rooms and one with 9, 8 new Operating rooms, new surgical Central Sterile Processing suite, new Surgical Pharmacy with an embedded sterile prep suite, new Clinical Engineering Department, new Anesthesia workroom, new Pediatric Surgical Reception and Waiting area


The Perioperative PACU rooms are multiuse, for pre and post-OP functions.  They are fully enclosed rooms outfitted with all technology to provide this multipurpose function.
