Boston College Lyons Hall
Linea 5 designed the new main floor Office of Student Services center in this 1951 Gothic Style building, which mainly houses classroom space. The 14,000 sf facility serves all students as a “one stop” for all needed services, from registration to financial matters and other issues where students need direct contact with staff.
The gracious new lobby and reception area reflect and enhance the original design of the building while introducing modern finishes and a welcoming feeling. The use of frameless glass walls and doors added within the Gothic style arches at the Entry created an energy saving vestibule opportunity while respecting the classic design style.
The interior fit-out made use of modular office partitions which have allowed BC to make changes to the staff areas without major effort. In addition, Linea 5 structural engineers designed the reframing of the roof of Lyons Hall to accommodate a new rooftop mechanical space including outdoor chillers.
